A new culinary fashion has appeared in Germany - food is decorated with fresh edible flowers. The new culinary trend is very pleasing to bio-gardeners: now their products are not only admired, but also enjoyed. So do not be surprised if you see a man who goggles his eyes at a flower bed. He already thinks what to cook for dinner. Flowers and petals are used to decorate and complement desserts, salads and even hot dishes.

For example, a dessert is ideally complemented by a bouquet of pansies and violets. Candied violets were still enjoyed by persons of royal blood, who knew the haute cuisine. Orange flowers are used to make ice cream. An excellent hot dessert will turn out if you bake magnolia in the dough and sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Rose has been eaten since ancient times: with honey, syrup or pudding. It can be added to almost any pastry.

But where fantasy really knows no boundaries is the preparation of salads. This is the most "flower" dish. Chefs say that petals of any color are suitable for a salad: calendula, chrysanthemum, lavender, sage, elderberry. Dahlias are also good, but they need to be soaked in salt water. Daylily flower is used in its natural form or fried in oil.

For hot dishes, especially soups, rice or fish, lilies are used. Lavender flowers will come in handy for baking croissants.

It should be borne in mind that for culinary experiments, you should use only flowers from your own garden or grown specifically for these purposes. And be sure to check the flower for any insect lurking inside it.
