The moths of clothes, grains and other varieties are equally vulnerable to various folk remedies, but for the most part they relate to repellents, that is, they simply scare away adults (from laying and living indoors) and only rare ones act as insecticides - they destroy pests.

But at the same time, it is the first ones that are often used in cases when these pests threaten home welfare.

Essential Oils and Infusions

Like many other insects, the proximity of which is undesirable for humans (for example, mosquitoes), the moth does not tolerate the aromas of many essential oils, among which are mint, eucalyptus, pink and tea tree, thyme, orange, lilac, patchouli.

You can put an open bottle of oil on a shelf (the main thing is not to spill it - then this smell will not leave the cabinet for many months, if not years).

You can add 5-15 drops per 1 liter of water and wipe it with the inner surfaces of the cabinet (ceiling, walls).

It is useful to know that even high-quality perfumes with natural essential oils may not be effective against moths, since the theoretically operating individual components in this case turn out to be "drowned out" by other additives that are inevitably present in perfumes.

It should also be noted that essential oils should in no case fall on clothing, since stains that could not be removed, spoiling its appearance, can remain on them from matter.

But this only applies to highly concentrated, clean products in bottles (therefore, even if you dilute them in water, you should not wipe them with shelves where things or walls lie, if clothes inevitably come into contact with them).

If we are talking about decoctions of plants as folk remedies for moths - their accidental contact with the tissue will cause nothing but their aromatization. It is as simple as possible to apply such decoctions - dried raw materials are thrown into boiling water, boiled for 3-5 minutes, then cooled and undiluted liquid is used for cleaning and spraying. Proportions are determined by eye, choosing the concentration of the composition as desired.

If the moth was detected on time and the items were handled appropriately (shaking, taking them out to the cold, washing), then the cabinet may be enough to also process it once - using incense sticks saturated with essential oils (but to guarantee the corresponding aromas in the storage area must be constantly).

Dry plants

In the pockets of woolen coats and fur coats can be put chestnuts whole or fragmented. The main thing is that they be dried - raw chestnuts, firstly, quickly moldy, and secondly, they can stain clothes.

Plants show good qualities against moths, such as plants valerian, sage, yarrow, mint, ivan tea.

Tansy - a highly effective insecticide, in addition, in certain quantities toxic to humans. Therefore, this dried plant (harvested strictly at the time of flowering) is laid out in cabinets and pantries little by little, preventing the creation of a high concentration of its smell.

Almost the same can be said about wormwood - it helps with many domestic parasites, but in large quantities and in poorly ventilated areas it can cause a headache in a person.

Remarkable but lavender as an old folk remedy for moths, it is good, first of all, in dried, and not in fresh form (and not even as an essential oil). Safe for humans (it can even transfer stored bedding), it, although it is not an insecticide, quickly removes the moth, driving it away like no other plant (and only recently have scientists begun to note the ability of these pests to adapt to the exorcising quality of lavender).

Dry herbs to maintain effectiveness should be changed every 3-6 weeks.

And so that there is no excess rubbish from them, it is recommended to lay them out in the form of a sachet (such gizmos can be made independently or purchased ready-made).

Separately, it is worth noting that if there are cats, dogs, birds, rodents or small predators (for example, ferrets) in the house, then fragrant plants chosen to fight moths should not be classified as flora poisonous to them.

Living greens

Geranium, more precisely, its living greens are valued as a beautiful indoor plant with not the most obsessive smell, but provided that the surrounding cabinets and cabinets open their doors for ventilation a couple of days — only 1 pot per room may be enough to scare off a rare, occasionally induced moth .

Similar properties differ and mint in pots, only this plant should be odorous (for example, peppermint) and sometimes greens need to be "activated". For example, rub it in several places on the doors and walls of cabinets.

In winter, a natural appearance in the house conifers, branches of which in the closet will help get rid of the problem of these pests.

And of all the evergreen spiny trees, the most useful cedar. Interestingly, the moth does not start in furniture from it in principle. But, for the lack of one, you can expand its branches (preferably with cones) or odorous pieces of bark.

Other recipes for folk remedies for moths

Unfolded on shelves or even folded into pockets of winter things, pieces of ordinary soap - laundry or strawberry, are an excellent tool.

However, today everything is less in demand due to the fact that it soap easily conveys its smell to things themselves, the removal of which will still have to work.

To protect winter shoes with fur, you can take fresh, strong smelling printing ink of the newspaper, crumple and stuff boots and shoes with them. But for outerwear, this method is as dubious as soap.

In the same category of agents that are precisely acting, but not the best in terms of additional effects, dry tobacco leaves (the most common for smoking).

Protection of supplies in the kitchen with folk remedies from moths

It is important to note that no funds are recommended to be directly mixed with products, for example, do not put citrus peels in a jar with dried peas.

It will be more efficient and better to lay out funds in large quantities near stocks.

A tool like peel of oranges and, in principle, all citrus fruits (grapefruit, lemon, lime, mandarin) are suitable for exactly the period that they remain fresh, they give off essential oils to the air. Therefore, you need to change them often - once every 1-2 weeks, plus - make sure that they do not start to grow moldy. And it is important to note that in no case should you take essential oils of this group of fruits as their replacement.

Mint growing in a pot, as already mentioned, can be a deterrent. But with a serious threat of stockpile destruction, it is better to process the pantry (furniture replacing it) with a decoction, for the preparation of which:

• a bunch of mint coarsely chopped;

• pour 300 ml of water, bring to a boil;

• remove from heat to cool and insist 20 minutes;

• filter the broth and squeeze the greens to it.

The intensity of the product is regulated by diluting the broth with water for cleaning.

Those who are ready for harsher odors can try to use infusion in cleaning bay leafto receive which:

• 3-5 dry leaves pour 500 ml of boiling water;

• clean under the lid and insist 4 hours.

Throwing leaves from the finished product, it is bred at its discretion with clean water.

Garlic It helps not when its heads are laid out, but when the cloves are pressed into the pulp (chopped) and laid out just it, in the form of the filling of small gauze bags.

Minus means - garlic aroma will eat into the atmosphere for a long time.

The list of folk remedies for moths in the kitchen can be continuedand:

• decompose crushed peas black pepper;

• to distribute where you need very good smell-permeable miniature bags with spices (in just one or a set) - cloves, thyme, rosemary.

Theoretically, some more exotic species, such as tropical spices, the brightest and most fragrant, but in reality it was, firstly, few checked, and secondly, scattering hastily composed mixtures can literally harm the atmosphere of the kitchen, making it much less comfortable.

Therefore, with insufficient effectiveness in this space of folk remedies for moths, it probably makes sense to turn to the remedy for moths offered by modern science and industry.
