The country, as you know, is not just a territory, but first of all, it is the people who live in it. Recently, our portal Women's Opinion conducted a survey that showed that today only 20% of Russians are proud of their country (and primarily their compatriots). And then we decided to address our audience with the question: Can Russia be proud of you? “Yes, of course,” the majority of respondents said.

“I made my contribution to demography, I pay taxes, and I work for the state in every sense,” one of the respondents writes. And the majority of those who voted also believe that it’s enough to be an honest taxpayer, a law-abiding citizen, pay utility bills on time, go to the polls and raise your children responsibly so that Russia is proud of them. So answered 40.1% of the survey participants.

In some ways, they may be right, but, however, all of the above is our civic and human duty, and in order for the Motherland to be really proud of us, something more is needed, others say. And they admit that Russia can be proud of them "Only occasionally." This was recognized by 37.3% of respondents.

“I would like, but nothing,” answered 33.6% of the participants in the vote. "Alas, I have not reached such heights, maybe one day she (Russia) will at least not be ashamed of me";
"To be proud .... I don’t think - I did not receive the title of the hero of Russia, I didn’t get a medal for courage either. So I didn’t make any tangible contribution ... so ... But there’s nothing to be ashamed of - I’m not breaking the law, I have no debts to the state"; “It seems to me that a country can only be proud of a person who has done something significant. For me, these are mainly scientists, whose discoveries can be of practical use; cultural figures, although now I don’t see people like Tchaikovsky in this direction, Surikov, Dostoevsky ... I personally do not appreciate athletes, but the country can be proud of Olympic champions. I have nothing to do with the above, so there’s nothing to be proud of ... "

“I somehow do not care whether the country is proud of me or not. I do not expect from the country any assessments of my personality and my actions,” there are such independent opinions ...

Indifference to the fate of Russia, the desire to do something for the sake of its prosperity and glory, to apply all its talents and abilities to it - all this is cause for pride. But the results of the polls indicate that the majority of Russians lost their patriotic feeling and formed a consumer attitude to their country. We do not respect the people around us, but we believe that they can and should be proud of us. And it seems time to think about becoming more demanding of yourself and more tolerant of others. Homeland will appreciate it.

The survey involved 2780 women from 119 cities of Russia in the age category from 20 to 45 years.
